Livisto Chemi-Spray (Invesa) for wound cleaning and healing
Chemi-Spray is a product with bactericidal and wound-healing properties, suitable for dogs, cats and farm animals. It is used for treating surgical and accidental wounds, ulcers, open abscesses, scratches, and interdigital dermatitis.
Chloramphenicol is the main active ingredient of Chemi-Spray — an antibiotic with a broad antibacterial spectrum that also shows antifungal activity. The spray is applied to a cleaned wound, free from necrotic tissue, from a distance of 5–10 cm. Animals must be prevented from licking the product. Treatment may last up to 10 days depending on wound severity.
The product is generally well tolerated by animals, although cases of individual sensitivity to components may occur. It is intended for external use only, according to the instructions.
Composition and form of release:
A solution in aerosol form for external use. Contains chloramphenicol — 25 mg, gentian violet — 1 mg, and excipients. Supplied in aluminium aerosol cans of 200 ml.
Pharmacological properties:
Chloramphenicol belongs to broad-spectrum bacteriostatic antibiotics. Gentian violet is an antiseptic dye with mild antifungal and antimicrobial activity. Their combined action suppresses bacterial protein synthesis and disrupts nucleoprotein structures of microbial cells.
Indications:
- treatment of surgical and accidental wounds in farm animals and dogs;
- infectious hoof lesions (interdigital dermatitis);
- treatment of ulcers;
- treatment of open abscesses;
- scratches and other wounds caused by microorganisms sensitive to chloramphenicol.
Dosage and administration:
- clean the affected area from debris and necrotic tissue;
- shake the aerosol can thoroughly before use;
- spray over the affected area for 1–2 seconds from a distance of 5–10 cm;
- prevent the animal from licking the treated area for at least 5 minutes;
- treatment duration — up to 10 days depending on severity and healing progress.
Side effects:
When used as recommended, side effects are generally not observed. If adverse reactions appear, discontinue use and wash the treated area.
Contraindications:
Not to be used in animals sensitive to chloramphenicol — may cause local skin reactions or ulceration of mucous membranes.
Special precautions:
- no withdrawal periods for meat or milk apply;
- in case of emergency slaughter, the treated area must be removed;
- spray only in well-ventilated areas;
- avoid contact with skin and mucous membranes — rinse with water if contact occurs;
- do not dismantle or puncture the can, do not spray near open flames;
- avoid heating above 45 °C and exposure to direct sunlight.
Storage conditions:
Store in a dry, dark place at 5–25 °C. Shelf life — 4 years.
