Cream of white or almost white colour
Ingredients
1 g of cream contains:
active substances: betamethasone dipropionate (in terms of 100% substance) - 0.64 mg; gentamicin sulfate (in terms of anhydrous gentamicin) - 1 mg; clotrimazole (in terms of 100% substance) - 10 mg.
excipients: methylparaben (methylparahydroxybenzoate) (E 218) - 2 mg, propylene glycol, dinitrium edetate (trilon B), mineral oil, white soft paraffin, cetostearyl alcohol, polyethylene glycol (macrogol) cetostearyl ether, sodium dihydrogen phosphate monohydrate, sodium hydrogen phosphate dodecahydrate, purified water.
Pharmacological properties
Due to the combination of active substances, the drug has anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, antibacterial, antifungal effects. Betamethasone dipropionate is a synthetic fluorinated corticosteroid. It has anti-inflammatory, glucocorticoid, anti-allergic, antipruritic effects.
Betamethasone inhibits leukocyte migration, release of lysosomal enzymes and anti-inflammatory mediators in the inflammatory focus, inhibits phagocytosis, reduces vascular and tissue permeability, and prevents the formation of inflammatory edema. It is biotransformed in the liver. It is excreted by the kidneys, partially excreted in milk.
Clotrimazole - belongs to the group of imidazole antifungal drugs. It promotes increased permeability of the liposome phospholipid membrane, cytoplasmic vacuolisation, and decreased ribosome number. Active against: Trichophyton rubrum, Trichophyton mentagrophytes, Epidermophyton floccosum, Microsporum canis, Candida albicans, Malassezia furtur (Pityrosporum orbiculare).
Gentamicin is a broad-spectrum antibiotic of the aminoglycoside group, which has bactericidal effect against gram-negative bacteria: Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Aerobacter aerogenes, Escherichia coli, Proteus vulgaris, Klebsiella pneumoniae; gram-positive bacteria: Streptococcus spp. and Staphylococcus aureus.
When Sanoderm is applied topically in therapeutic doses, the transdermal absorption of active substances into the bloodstream is very low. The use of occlusive dressings significantly increases the transdermal absorption of betamethasone and gentamicin, which may lead to an increased risk of systemic side effects.
Indications for use
For the treatment of dogs and cats with dermatoses with severe allergic, inflammatory reactions, itching, hyperaemia, edema, exudate infiltration, complicated by secondary bacterial infection; fungal skin diseases: dermatophytosis caused by Microsporum canis, Trichophyton rubrum, Annex 2 to the registration certificate AV-02372-01-11 30. 09.2020 (cream) leaflet-inlay RM-PM-IN-02821 Trichophyton mentagrophytes, candidiasis caused by Candida albicans, Candida parapsilosis, yeast infections with Malassezia furtur.
Dosage and administration route

The cream should be applied to the affected skin and surrounding areas with a thin layer 2 times a day (morning and evening), gently rubbing into the skin; after the animal's health condition improves, the frequency of the drug application may be reduced to once a day.
The duration of treatment is determined by the elimination of the inflammatory process and negative results of bacterial and/or mycological analysis, cessation of itching, and cleansing of the skin.
The course of treatment depends on the type and severity of the disease, the effectiveness of therapy, is determined by a veterinarian and usually lasts 2-4 weeks (not more); a break of at least 20 days is required between repeated courses.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.
Side effects
Excessive and prolonged use of the drug on a large area of the lesion (relative to the total body surface area of the animal) may lead to systemic effects typical of glucocorticosteroids, namely suppression of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal system with the development of secondary adrenal insufficiency, manifestation of hypercortisolism symptoms (weight gain, edema, hypertension, glucosuria, hypokalaemia), and the occurrence of Itzenko-Cushing's syndrome.
Precautions
Avoid contact with eyes and open wounds.
Do not apply the cream to the skin around the eyes.
