The drug Stronghold (based on selamectin) is indicated for the prevention and control of flea infestation (Ctenocephalides Felis), it destroys adult fleas and prevents the incubation of flea eggs during one month The drug is effective for the prevention of heartworm infections (Dirofilaria immitis), as well as for the treatment of ear mite (Otodectes cynotis) infestations.
Stronghold is also intended for the prevention and treatment of scabies (caused by scabies mites) and to prevent infections with the Dermacentor variabilis mite. For the prevention and control of flea infestation, Stronghold should be applied at monthly intervals throughout the flea season, with pre-treatment one month prior to the season. In laboratory studies, over 98% of fleas were killed within 36 hours. The results of clinical studies in natural conditions with monthly use of the drug Stronghold demonstrated the display of more than 90% of flea infestations within 30 days after the introduction of the first dose.
To prevent heartworm infections, Stronghold should be applied on a monthly basis. The first dose should be used no later than one month after the beginning of the mosquito season, and the last dose should be applied within a month after the end of the season. For the control of ear mites (O. cynotis) in dogs and cats, Stronghold should be administered once. In rare cases, a second monthly dose may be necessary for some dogs. Monthly use of the drug will serve as a prevention of possible infections.

For allergic dermatitis caused by fleas, Stronghold is prescribed in the same doses.
