The main active component of the drug Stronghold is selamectin, which destroys adult fleas and stops the incubation of eggs. The active components of the drug are also active against other parasites affecting the animal's body. Stronghold is used to remove ear mites, scabies mites and to destroy a number of helminths (heart-attacking heartworm, roundworm, toxocar, and other tapeworms).
A convenient medicinal form (drops) is used with ease: the drops are applied along the spine from the withers to the tail on the animal's body. After application, the drops dry quickly and do not leave an unpleasant smell, they are moisture-resistant, and the animal can be bathed already 2 hours after applying the drops.
During the first day after application, the drug destroys all fleas, and then protects against re-infection for a month. The dosage of the drug is calculated depending on the weight of the animal. This drug is non-toxic to cats and dogs and is intended for puppies and kittens from six weeks of age.
Packaging: For puppies and kittens (up to 2.5 kg) - a pipette of 15 mg (0.25 ml).

Indications for use
Prescribed for dogs and cats:
- For the destruction of fleas (Stenocephalides spp.) and prevention of re-infection of animals within one month after application of the drug
- For the treatment of allergic flea dermatitis as part of complex therapy
- For the prevention and treatment of otodectosis (ear mite) caused by O. cynotis and sarcoptosis caused by S. scabiei
- For deworming in toxocariasis caused by Toxocara cati, Toxocara canis, and hookworm caused by Ancylostoma tubaeform
- For the prevention of heartworm disease in regions where Dirofilaria immitis is registered
Dosage and method of use
- Stronghold is used only externally. Before applying the drug, remove the pipette from the blister and, holding it vertically, press on the cap to pierce the foil covering the pipette, then remove the cap.
- The drug is applied directly to the dry skin of the animal. To do this, the wool is pushed between the shoulder blades at the base of the neck and the contents of the pipette are completely squeezed out, avoiding getting it on the hands. Do not massage the place of application of the drug.
- Stronghold is prescribed once, the dose is chosen taking into account the type and weight of the animal. In each specific case, a solution is applied from one pipette with a cap of the appropriate color, while the dose based on the active substance is 6 mg of selamectin per 1 kg of the animal's weight. In case of simultaneous infection of the animal with several types of parasites, a single application of Stronghold in the above dose is recommended.
Side effects
With correct use and dosage, side effects are usually not observed.
Contraindications
Increased individual sensitivity to the drug.
Attention!
It is forbidden to use Stronghold for puppies and kittens younger than 6 weeks of age, sick with infectious diseases and recovering animals. The drug should not be used orally or by injection.
For the treatment of otodectosis, do not inject Stronghold directly into the ear canal. It is not recommended to apply the drug to the wet skin of the animal. After applying the drug, do not allow the treated animal to come into contact with a source of fire and high temperature until the animal's fur is completely dry.
Special instructions
- It is forbidden to smoke, drink and eat during the procedure. After the procedure, you should wash your hands with warm water and soap. If the drug accidentally gets on the skin or mucous membranes, it must be immediately washed off with a stream of water.
- It is not recommended to wash, stroke and let the animal near small children during2 hours after treatment with the drug. After this time, the animal can be washed even with the use of shampoo, which does not reduce the effectiveness of Stronghold.
- Empty pipettes from the drug are not allowed to be used for household purposes, they are thrown into garbage containers.
Storage
In a dry, dark and inaccessible place for children and animals. Away from heating devices and open flames. Separately from food products and feed at a temperature not higher than 30 ° C. Expiry date - 3 years.
