Virbac Cortavance is a topical spray based on hydrocortisone aceponate for the symptomatic treatment of inflammatory and allergic dermatoses in dogs. Hydrocortisone aceponate is a dermocorticoid with potent glucocorticoid activity, offering anti-inflammatory, anti-edematous and antiallergic effects.
It belongs to the class of glucocorticosteroid diesters — lipophilic substances capable of penetrating deep into the skin. It is rapidly absorbed from the skin surface, accumulates within the skin and exerts a local anti-inflammatory effect even at low doses. It is excreted through urine and feces.
