COMPOSITION
1 ml of the product contains the active substance:
Phenibut – 100 mg.
Excipients: propylene glycol, methylparaben, propylparaben, hydroxyethyl cellulose, flavoring, sucrose, purified water.
PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
ATC vet classification code QN06BX – Other psychostimulants and nootropics. QN06BX22 – Phenibut.
Phenibut, the active ingredient in the product, is a phenyl derivative of GABA and phenylethylamine. It has a positive effect on metabolic processes in the nerve cells of the brain.
Phenibut exhibits nootropic activity and, as a GABA derivative, has anxiolytic (tranquilizing) effects. It does not affect cholino- or adrenoreceptors. By enhancing GABA-ergic inhibitory processes, it affects the functional state through the normalization of metabolism and influence on cerebral blood flow.
It has a pronounced stress-correcting effect and helps normalize excitation and inhibition processes in the central nervous system.
The product is rapidly absorbed after oral administration and penetrates well into all tissues of the body, including crossing the blood-brain barrier.
80–95% of the product is metabolized in the liver into inactive metabolites. 5% is excreted unchanged by the kidneys.
APPLICATION
Antistress is prescribed to reduce arousal and correct psychogenic behavioral disorders in cats and dogs during stress, phobias, unexplained aggression, and increased sexual excitement (in combination with contraceptives), and to prevent motion sickness.
DOSAGE
Antistress drops are administered orally to cats and dogs by applying them to the base of the tongue 2 times a day in the following doses:
- Cats – 1 drop (4 mg of phenibut) per 1 kg of body weight;
- Dogs – 2 drops (8 mg of phenibut) per 1 kg of body weight.
The course of administration is 10–15 days. If signs of strong arousal or behavioral disorders (aggression, fear, hyperactivity, hypersexual behavior) are present, the course may be extended up to 20 days.
If signs of arousal or behavioral disorders reappear, the course may be repeated using the same doses and schedule.
To prevent stress (transportation, environmental changes, fireworks, owner's departure, participation in exhibitions or competitions), the product is administered 3–5 days before the anticipated event and for 1–4 days after its completion.
To prevent motion sickness, the product is administered once at the above doses 1–2 hours before transportation. If pronounced signs of motion sickness (vomiting) are already present, the product is less effective.
To correct behavior associated with increased sexual activity, Antistress drops are used in the same doses in combination with contraceptives. The duration of use depends on the individual sensitivity of the animal and the degree of arousal.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Individual sensitivity to the components (including in history), acute and chronic renal failure, diabetes.
Do not use in pregnant and lactating females.
PRECAUTIONS
Shake well before use.
When used as directed, no adverse reactions were observed.
In animals with increased individual sensitivity to the components, signs of arousal, drowsiness, irritability, nausea, or allergic reactions may occur. In such cases, symptomatic and desensitizing therapy is recommended.
Rarely, after the first dose, animals may exhibit drowsiness or nausea, which resolve on their own and do not require treatment.
