Otifree is designed for the intensive dissolution of earwax and debris that accumulate in the external ear canal, without irritating the outer surface of the skin. This ensures optimal cleaning properties and effectively reduces factors that may cause inflammation in the external auditory canal, with good product tolerance.
Main features of Otifree
- Intensively cleanses earwax and debris
- Reduces factors that may cause inflammation
- Moisturizes and creates a protective barrier
- Contains calendula flower extract and basil essential oil
Composition
Tincture of calendula flowers (Tinctura Calendulae), basil essential oil, and oxyethylene compounds in a neutral, non-irritating, ear-specific base with strong cleansing and caring properties. DOES NOT CONTAIN PRESERVATIVES.
Properties
Otifree is formulated to effectively dissolve earwax and dirt in the external ear canal without irritating the skin. This provides effective cleansing and reduces factors that can cause inflammation in the external ear canal while ensuring good tolerability. The earwax-dissolving ability is achieved through a specially selected surfactant. Oily compounds prevent skin dryness, maintaining hydration and elasticity, and helping to preserve the natural protective barrier.
Indications for use
Cleansing of the external ear (external auditory canal) in dogs and cats.
Directions for use
Ear cleaning method (according to H. Frede):
- Completely fill the ear canal with the solution.
- Grasp the soft parts of the ear canal with the thumb, middle, and ring fingers and gently massage the canal repeatedly in an upward (ventrodorsal) direction.
- This helps move the fluid up and down and flush loosened debris toward the auricle.
The intensity of the massage depends on the level of pain caused by ear inflammation. Simultaneous massaging of the canal increases acceptance of ear cleaning, especially in cats.
Remove the fluid from the ear using a cotton pad. Afterward, the animal will shake its head to remove deeper debris from the canal. Further drying of the ear is not necessary, as Otifree does not tend to remain in the ear.
Precautions
Improper cleaning with cotton swabs or similar tools may push earwax deeper toward the eardrum or cause injury to the canal, increasing the risk of inflammation.
In the case of heavy soiling, the cleaning procedure should be repeated several times. For thorough cleansing, the canal should be rinsed under pressure after initial washing. This can be done using an Otifree bottle, dropper, or ear irrigation device. Either Otifree or body-temperature water can be used for rinsing. If water is used, a final rinse with Otifree is recommended.
