Ingredients

100 ml of the product contains active ingredients: benzalkonium chloride - 0.5 g, allantoin - 0.1 g, calendula (marigold) tincture - 10.0 g, tea tree oil - 0.05 g.

Excipients: glycerin, isopropanol, propylene glycol, purified water.

Pharmacological properties

The effect of the lotion is due to the properties of the complex of active and excipients. The product has antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, epithelialising effects, has a calming effect, eliminates itching.

Benzalkonium chloride - has a wide range of antimicrobial activity and bactericidal properties. Benzalkonium chloride is an antiseptic agent from the group of quaternary ammonium compounds. It acts as a cationic detergent. Due to its emulsifying properties, it depolarises the cytoplasmic membranes of microorganisms and therefore increases their permeability. As a result, it has a bactericidal effect on gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, as well as Candida albicans.

Calendulae Tinctura - biologically active substances contained in calendula flowers and flower baskets (flavonoid and carotenoid glycosides, saponins, tannins, essential oil, organic acids) have antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory effects.

Tea tree oil is a natural vegetable essential oil containing more than 100 different components, the most important of which are 1,8-cineole; terpenes, terpinen-4-ol. The most important active ingredient is the natural terpinen-4-ol, which is responsible for the antiseptic effect of the oil. The terpinen-4-ol isolated from tea tree oil is practically non-irritating to the skin. Tea tree oil inhibits the growth of such microorganisms as Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus beta haemolyticus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, S. albicans, Malassezia furfur, Tr. meningococcus and Tr. rubrum, A. niger, P. vulgaris and Legionella pneumophilla. In addition to antimicrobial activity, tea tree oil has anti-inflammatory effect, helps to increase skin permeability to biologically active substances. Tea tree oil is able to stimulate regeneration of damaged skin, promotes wound epithelialisation. When applied topically, it is practically not absorbed into the systemic bloodstream and does not have a general resorptive effect on the body.

Allantoin promotes wound healing, has an epithelialising effect and increases the tissue's ability to bind water. In addition, its keratolytic properties and ability to improve permeability increase the effectiveness of other components of the drug. Allantoin also has a soothing effect that relieves itching. The excipients provide fast and effective cleansing, have a softening effect, and have a good effect on the condition of the skin of the ears.

The lotion is used as a hygienic product for cleaning the ears of dogs and cats, as well as decorative rabbits. The lotion maintains healthy ears, removes old dirt and unpleasant odours, reduces the number of dead cells, and dries the ear canal. Significantly improves the microflora of the ears. It has a calming effect, eliminates itching. It can be used as an additional remedy before application of medicinal products in case of ear diseases, enhancing and accelerating their effect and promoting quick recovery of the animal.

Dosage

For hygienic ear treatment, moisten a cotton swab with the lotion and wipe the inside of the ear. In case of significant contamination, the lotion is applied to the external auditory canal in an amount sufficient to moisten the inner surface of the auricle and the auditory canal (1-5 ml, depending on the size of the animal), and then the ear is massaged for 15-30 seconds. The intensity and duration of massage depends on the degree of contamination and soreness of the ears. For greater effectiveness, you can leave the product in the ear for 3-5 minutes. Then remove the mixture of lotion and ear secretion from the ear canal with a cotton swab or napkin. If you use other products, they should be used 15-20 minutes after the lotion treatment. For hygienic ear cleaning in case of otitis media, the procedure is performed 1-2 times a day for 14 days.

Side effects

The lotion is generally well tolerated, but in some animals with individual hypersensitivity, allergic reactions (skin redness, rashes, itching) may occur.
